Advanced Ionics and ACWA Power Sign MOU to Collaborate on Highly Efficient Electrolytic Hydrogen Production

Yesterday at Acwa Innovation Days 2026, we marked a milestone with an MOU signing ceremony: “Collaboration to advance Novel Highly-Efficient Electrolytic Hydrogen Production.”

Ahead of my panel, Acwa’s CEO Marco ARCELLI’s talk — “Energy Trilemma must now become a Quadrilemma” — gave me a sharper framework, and it changed how I told our Advanced Ionics story on stage: Affordability, Security, Sustainability, and Speed.

Here’s how I now think about hydrogen through that lens:
• Affordability: enabling green hydrogen at cost parity with conventional hydrogen in regions with favorable power economics.
• Security: Acwa delivers security at scale — the ability to bring power and water reliably to major projects.
• Sustainability: a pragmatic path to decarbonizing today’s industrial hydrogen demand.
• Speed: modular deployment, accelerated through our partnership with Lummus Technology.

Thank you Thomas Altmann for the invitation and for moderating a thoughtful, high-energy discussion. And thank you to my fellow panelists Marc Berte (Overview Energy) and Quantum Wei (Harmony Desalting) — great perspectives across infrastructure, water innovation, and energy systems.

Grateful to Acwa for convening leaders focused on real-world deployment.
